#012 Consistency ⚒️
Updated: Oct 18, 2021
Hello friends 👋
I’m going to take a bit of a break from the APC competency breakdown this week. This week marks a significant point for me because I’ve managed to put something out for the last 12 weeks.
It’s quite difficult putting something out into the void, you know no one is reading but I’m trying to build a portfolio of information that may, someday, be useful to someone.
The biggest push to continue writing this weekly blog/newsletter thing has come from watching Ali Abdaal videos. I suggest you give him a watch, he has quite a refreshing perspective on life, work and all things productivity-related.
I remember when I first tried to blog last year it was at this point I completely gave up with it. I mean, it wasn’t a conscious decision to stop but I just sort of stopped and I didn’t give it much thought – I wish I had continued, I would have had 50-60 posts up by now. It is what it is, hopefully, I can continue writing up posts that may be of use to someone.
The biggest problem I seem to be having is idea generation. I’m doing okay at the moment because for the next 6 weeks at least I have APC competencies to cover. These are quite good for me to do because it makes me actually do some research myself, and as I am on the APC programme myself it can be quite informative. As they say, the best way to learn is to teach what you know. Another potential idea is to do a day in the life of a PQS. That one will be quite difficult because it’s difficult to talk about some aspects of my job without explicitly discussing clients. It’s not something which I am really allowed to do but we’ll see how it goes …
On the off chance anyone is reading this and wants to do any form of creative exercise but isn’t sure about it, I highly recommend you read Austin Kleon’s Show Your Work. It’s a fantastic book that helped alleviate some of my concerns about putting something out into the public realm.
That's all for now, if you guys have topics you want me to cover as PQS working in the UK, please give me a shout!
Have a good week! 👍🏻
